Treating Patients in Jacksonville, Florida

Bio For Physicians

I am a physician who is board certified in both Pain Medicine and Psychiatry, specializing in the management of chronic pain, mood, anxiety and sleep disorders since 1988. I use a Biopsychosocial Treatment Model – emphasizing non-addictive medication (NO OPIATES), physical therapy, stress management, and lifestyle adjustment.

From Aug 2016 until Sept 2019, I served as Director of Psychiatry & Pain Recovery Program at Lakeview Health, an addiction rehab facility (JCAHO & CARF certified) with an abstinence-based Dual Disorders treatment model.

As Director of the Pain Recovery Program (which I created), I used the biopsychosocial treatment model which was consistent with the guidelines of the American Board of Pain Medicine (ABPM), the American Pain Society (APS), and the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM).

In this Pain Recovery Program each patient received:

The Pain Recovery Program outcomes data showed significant reductions in physical pain, physical impairments, psychological symptoms, psychiatric symptoms, and impairments in psychosocial functioning.

Past positions include:

At the University of Florida I implemented a “Comprehensive Pain Medicine” biopsychosocial model, based on an understanding that each person’s chronic pain condition results from a unique combination of physical, biological, emotional, cognitive, behavioral, and stress-related factors. As a result, patients received an individualized multi-disciplinary evaluation and multimodal treatment planning which resulted in the best possible clinical outcomes for the reduction of physical pain, physical impairment, psychological symptoms, psychiatric symptoms, as well as impairments in psychosocial functioning.

I am a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association (FAPA), an honorary designation by colleagues for achievement and commitment to excellence in Psychiatry.
